On Friday, September 27, 2024, all 丝瓜视频下载 staff will participate in our annual 丝瓜视频下载 Faith Day. This day provides all staff the opportunity to come together as a faith-filled community and focus on adult faith development.听听

School administrators are tasked with facilitating a full school day of team-building activities and exercises grounded in our Catholic faith, focusing on tangible and concrete connections to personal faith development. It is a day where all staff are encouraged to centre themselves in prayer and reflection as the conduit through which we nurture our relationship with Christ.听

Staff are engaged in marking exams, participating in guidance meetings with students and other closing operations for the end of term. Some staff will also attend graduation ceremonies on these days.

Elementary 鈥� Report Card Writing
Elementary teachers will write report cards, which will be available to parents/guardians on ConnectEd on Friday, June 28, 2024, after 4 p.m.

In accordance with the Ministry of Education鈥檚 new Regulation 304, 鈥淪chool Year Calendar, Professional Activity Days,鈥� the 丝瓜视频下载 (丝瓜视频下载) is providing the following summary of P.A. Day activities at the secondary level on Friday, May 3, 2024.

In the morning, teachers will participate in presentations on topics including: Mathematics: High-Impact Instructional Strategies and Grade 9 De-streamed Math; Effective Assessment Practices in the FSL Classroom; Assessment & Evaluation; Introduction to STREAM and Design Thinking; High-Impact Instructional Strategies; Building Inclusive Learning Environments; Fostering a Culture of Inclusion in Integrated Subject Classes; and literacy modules.

Anti-Sex Trafficking Training
Board employees must complete comprehensive anti-sex trafficking training to ensure all staff are equipped to identify the signs of sex trafficking, safely respond to disclosures and support the immediate physical and emotional safety needs of all students.

In accordance with the Ministry of Education鈥檚 new Regulation 304, 鈥淪chool Year Calendar, Professional Activity Days,鈥� the 丝瓜视频下载 (丝瓜视频下载) is providing the following summary of P.A. Day activities at the elementary and secondary levels on Friday, February 2, 2024.

Elementary – K-8 Math (High impact instructional approaches)
Teachers will be engaging in a half day of professional learning with a focus on the coding expectations in the Mathematics and Science and Technology curricula. This session was created for the 丝瓜视频下载 by Lisa Anne Floyd,听 an Ontario educator and coding specialist who is currently completing her PhD in computational thinking, coding and mathematics education. The first part of the morning will focus on coding in mathematics, where the Scratch platform is being used to highlight coding activities and opportunities that can be used in K-8 classrooms. Scratch is a based-block coding platform, created by MIT, aimed primarily at children as an educational tool. The second part will focus on makecode.microbit.org (another block-based coding platform) to make real-world connections in science using micro:bits. A micro-bit is a programmable device that allows students to see the connections between software (coding) and hardware.

Elementary – Anti-Sex Trafficking Training
Board employees must complete comprehensive anti-sex trafficking training to ensure all staff are equipped to identify the signs of sex trafficking, safely respond to disclosures and support the immediate physical and emotional safety needs of all students. (Secondary staff will complete this training on a later PA Day).

Secondary – Semester Two Prep
To promote student success, staff will close off the final details of semester one, as well as plan and prepare for the start of semester two.

Elementary 鈥� Parent/Guardian-Teacher Interviews

In the morning at elementary schools, parents/guardians will have an opportunity to meet with their child鈥檚 teacher.

Secondary 鈥� Computer Studies, Pathways, the Skilled Trades and Apprenticeship

In the morning, secondary staff will participate in curriculum connecting activities – including a virtual expert panel from 鈥楽upport on Youth鈥� – to assist in supporting students in selecting career pathways related to Apprenticeship and the Skilled Trades. Moreover, staff will engage in school-based project discussions to make explicit connections between apprenticeship, the skilled trades and curriculum.
Some staff will also examine the new Grade 10 Computer Studies course by reviewing the key elements of the curriculum, exploring new strands, while discussing approaches to teaching the computer studies course with a focus on Universal Design for Learning and Differentiated Instruction.

Elementary/Secondary 鈥� Student Safety and Violent Incident Prevention

Elementary and secondary staff will participate in a series of training modules on issues including concussion awareness in athletics, responding to various health emergencies, classroom safety, and
slips, trips and falls.

Health and safety is of the utmost importance to the 丝瓜视频下载. These
modules help us prioritize the health and safety of all by focusing on prevention, training, procedures
and retention.
